Wildflower Fields — Violet Limodore Triptych

The seeds for this triptych painting of 4.2 by 2 m were sown when Arne Quinze visited friends at the coast of Portugal, where vast wildflower fields are hidden behind the rock cliffs that plunge into the Atlantic. The Algarve is home to a fascinating range of orchids, like the Violet Limodore. With several small sketches as a preliminary study, Quinze tries to portray the power of the budding life he experienced being surrounded by those wildflowers. The secret lies in bold colour combinations and vigorous colour contrasts that allegedly conflict in both conviction and origin. His preparatory sketches are of such an extremely divergent scope and substance that a synthesis of these diverse elements calls for humility in relation to the incredible balance he finds in nature. Through his paintings, Arne Quinze expresses a constant pursuit to capture nature’s magnificent diversity. In his Wildflower Field — Violet Limodore Triptych, the artist displaces himself again to the dazzling, exploding outburst of spring in the wildflower fields of the Algarve region.
